Paranormal Activity?

Paranormal Activity.  Have you seen the movie?  I actually really liked it.  I went in thinking I was going to be terrified and left thinking what an awesome movie, but I certainly wasn't as scared as I've heard others say they were.  Since we liked the movie, it was no big deal last night to watch a preview for 'Paranormal Activity 2' and then go to bed.

Then.

About 3:30am I woke up to the sound of Max, our older dog, wimpering downstairs.  Now this has been almost routine lately around 5-6am when he wakes up and doesn't want to stay downstairs alone, but not at 3:30 in the morning.  So I walk down the stairs expecting Max waiting at the baby gate to run upstairs, but instead I don't see him.  I quietly call for him and I'm squinting in the dark and I open the baby gate looking further for him.  He's laying in the middle of the floor; moves slightly when he sees me, and is silent.  At this point, I get a bad feeling and my house suddenly looks like the movie!!!  I practically beg Max to come upstairs and he doesn't move, so I close the gate start walking then running back up the stairs, hop under the covers and just look around.

Holy crap, what's going on??  The more I'm silently laying there in bed, the more freaked out I get.  Recall, 90% of the movie plays out in the couples bedroom around the same time of night.  If you've ever freaked yourself out like this you know the more silent time that passes, the worse your mind goes to work so I must admit, I eventually had to wake up Chris, my husband, for some reassurance!!

About 15 minutes later Max is wimpering again, Chris goes down to get him and he hops right up to come upstairs with him.

Soooo, paranormal activity or do I need to back away from the scary movies?!?!

Loving the North Country

This picture was taken at Sackets Harbor, NY overlooking Lake Ontario.  It's gorgeous up here and we are absolutely loving everything about the North Country.  We went to dinner at The Boathouse, an AMAZING restaurant with waterfront, outdoor dining.  The temperature was perfect, the sun was setting, and we were in good company.  What could be better?  It's hard to believe it's almost September already.  In a couple of days we hit the road back to VA for a week and two baby showers.  This time, the boys (Max & Tucker) will be staying in Doggie Daycare for a week!  I hope Chris and I can cope with the seperation!
Happy Weekend everyone!

Hair Nerves

WARNING:  I'm about to sound really shallow.

I have a hair appointment scheduled for 6:30am this Saturday morning.  Yes, I said a.m.  The stylist says she's in that early, and I'm typically up so it works for me!

Anyways, I've only ever had my hair professionally colored by one (might I say amazing!!) hair stylist back home in Virginia.  That is until Saturday morning.  How pathetic is it that I am nervous?  Even in Arizona, I colored my hair a few times at home and then just let the color grow out because I find it hard to trust someone else to do it.  When we passed through VA on the way to NY I had my favorite stylist work her magic once again!

So Saturday I am taking a chance and letting someone new color my hair.  Do you know I've never even met this woman?  I've never even had my hair cut at this place.  I made my decision solely based on seeing the salon when I went for a massage last weekend.  WHAT WAS I THINKING??

I will be sure to update you on the result of my obviously, very serious issue!!  :)

Time flies

Wow, it has been OVER a month since my last post, whoops! Each time I thought about it, so much had happened that I wasn't sure where to start and of course as more time passed, it became harder and harder.

So, I'm going to do a quick summary of the last month. We were delayed one day in our move frmo AZ to NY because of a moving company miscommunication (3 different companies were involved) but we finally got on the road and made record time. We arrived in VA on schedule so we managed to make up the lost day of travel. We had a WONDERFUL week in VA visiting with family and friends, but it passed entirely too fast.

Then we began the last leg of our trip from VA up to Frot Drum, NY to our new rental home that we had arranged more than a month earlier. Now the fun begins.

The house was a D-U-M-P! We temporarily panicked and decided to stay in a hotel for the night to think on i. Fast forward 24 hours and we were moving into a WONDERFUL townhouse that we couldn't be happier about. It's further from post but it's brand new, gorgeous, the dogs have room to run, and we couldn't be happier! One day later our household goods arrived, and two days later I began work. The next few weeks consisted of unpacking, settling, both sets of parents visiting and here we are with August almost gone, finally having a weekend to relax...ahhhh. :)

I have to say we absolutely LOVE it here. You know when you are young and you color a picture with green grass, blue sky, white clounds, and an A-shaped house in the background? Well, that is what it looks like here.

Here are some things I love abuot the North Country"

Green grass, rolling hills, a constant summer breeze, seeing people's clothes drying on a line outside, friendly people, farmer's market across the street from my office on Wednesday's and a local farmer's market within walking distance on Saturday's (picture to come.) Amish and farmers galore who provide nearly everything I need grocery related on a local level, dogs who have felt at home from day one, and feeling happy and settled in our new home.

Now for a baby update - BOY have I grown. And there was your hint; we just found out we are having a baby boy!!!! Chris and I both met my new doctor and we think he is wonderful. The ultrasound was amazing and we learned that we have a very active little guy who doesn't like to sit still.

Ok, well I think that brings my two followers up to date now, lol. I will be a better blogger, I promise. For now, here are some pictures from the past month of adventures!
21 weeks & 2 days!
Local Farmer's Market finds in NY.

Halfway there - 20 weeks!

Moving Day 2

Oh, if only I had a picture! Moving Day two was really uneventful. The packers were here for just a couple of hours finishing up. C got home mid-day and we relaxed a little then finished packing the boxes for our DITY. We went over to a friend's house for dinner (thanks Becca!) which was wonderful to not have to cook. Ok, so here is where the excitement starts. We get home and the dogs are excited as usual. We mozy into the house and begin to get settled and as I'm in the back bedroom I hear C yell, "WHAT THE...!!!!!!!"

Our older dog, Max, chewed his way into a packed box with food in it. He pulled our C's protein powder but couldn't get it open (in the past he has.) He then pulled one of my nice plastic containers with Cocoa powder (for baking) in it. You know the nice organized, sealed, plastic containers you can get in a variety of sizes for flour, sugar, pasta etc? It was taped shut, for the move, yet he manages to chew apart the plastic to where it looks like shattered glass all over the floor and ate ALL of the Cocoa powder while of course managing to spread it nicely the area rug too.

::Sigh::

The average dog owner would probably be freaking out, calling the vet and worrying about the chocolate and/or plastic consumed by their dog however if you know Max, you know this is unfortunately typical behavior but taken to a whole new level. As of this morning Max is perfectly fine. I can't say the same for my container and area rug. If he keeps this up I may have to start a blog about his pantry break ins. Needless to say, we are investing in some baby gates for our dogs once we get to our new house in NY.

Moving Day 1

Well, I survived Moving Day 1. This is my second Army moving experience, and while I am glad that we are not the ones having to do the moving, I really, really dislike the packing/loading days. We have two large dogs (pics to come soon) and so I end up sitting outside with the dogs ALL DAY LONG while the movers are in the house packing. Ugh, such an inconvenience. Anyways, I survived and they did leave before 4pm so all in all it wasn't so bad. I am going to complain about one of the packers though. She was eating Fritos while packing up my kitchen and honestly a 5 year old could eat with less mess than her. Fritos all over the counter, Fritos dropped on the floor and then stepped on, a yellow ring on the counter from her drink - I'm guessing Mountain Dew. Moving Day 2 starts in a couple of hours when they are pack to finish packing. C (C refers to husband) is picking up the UHaul before his last day of class today. We didn't get the upgrade in UHaul size we were hoping for, so we'll get to sleep on a lovely air mattress for a while. Let's just hope our stuff doesn't really take a month to get to NY as they say it will.

Well, I guess I should prepare for Day #2. Today the dogs and I will stay inside, though, since they are done packing the room with the dogs crates. In the mean time, here's a picture taken at the end of Day #1. Can you spot one of our dogs?

Last day working in retail...I hope?

Today is my last day working at Sears in Arizona before we move. Woohoo! Let me first say, there is absolutely nothing wrong with working in retail, but it's honestly not where I saw myself in my mid-20's with a college degree while paying that hefty student loan payment every month. We were only here in Arizona for about 10 months and I applied everywhere, and I do mean everywhere. Sears was the only place to call me back and I needed a job so there ya go. The job is also wearing on me being pregnant because I'm on my feet for a 9-10 hour day moving shoe boxes, squatting, climbing ladders, etc. Phew, I'm just tired of it. So today is that last day, hooray! Now fingers are crossed for a much better and much more exciting job in our new home in NY. Happy weekend!

Introduction

Hello! Welcome to my first ever blog, Life as Lizzie. I have a lot of life adventures in my near future and I plan to use this blog to share the experiences, and other random happenings as they arise. I love a great bargain, fashion/home decor/other, and I love to travel when I have the opportunity. My husband and I are originally from a small town in Virginia and currently live in southern Arizona. In about a week, we will be driving back across the country as we are moving to upstate New York. We can thank the Army for all the moves, and I do mean thank them because we certainly would never have chosen to live and experience Arizona or New York on our own. We are also expecting our first child in late December. Life's an adventure and here we go!
